1. Is there a waiting period to enroll my child?
Please contact us to discuss current enrollment availability for your child. If you are pregnant and seeking a daycare provider for a future date, we encourage you to pre-register and reserve your spot as early as possible. The number of new children we enroll depends on current enrollment numbers, the types of schedules requested (part- or full-time) and space available in specific classrooms. We strive to maintain a low student-teacher ratio to ensure the best possible care for all children, thus space is limited.
2. What ages do you accept?
We enroll children as early as 8 weeks of age up through age six. We require current shot records upon your child's first day and a well-check report from your child's pediatrician within the first 12 months of enrollment.
3. Does my child have to be toilet trained?
No. Unlike many daycare centers, we do not mandate your child be toilet trained by a specific age. We understand each child develops at his own pace, and we encourage that development in a loving, supportive way. We have diaper changing facilities in every classroom, and we are more than willing to work with the children (and parents) during the toilet-training process.
4. Can I visit my child in her class? Is breastfeeding allowed?
Absolutely! Our Open Door policy encourages you to visit your child at any time and participate in daily lessons and activities. We know that communication is vitatl to your child's experience. This integral part of your child's learning will increase their desire to be enthusiastic learners.
Mothers who wish to breastfeed their babies during the day while in our care are encouraged to do so.
5. What will my child be learning? Is your Center a preschool or a daycare?
At Kidz Stop Learning Center, you get the best of both worlds: full-time or part-time child care with snacks, lunch, and nap time, along with a developmentally appropriate learning environment. The teachers plan the curriculum by setting up various interest centers in the classroom (science table; dramatic play; blocks; puzzles; art; large motor; etc.). The children are free to explore and play within a structured, yet flexible, environment. It is our belief that children learn through play by becoming actively involved within their environment. For more information about the curriculum see our Curriculum page and our Parent Handbook.
6. Do I have to pay for care on days when my child does not attend?
Once we set a schedule for your child, you will be billed for those days regardless of your child's actual attendance. We also bill for holidays and Center closings, in conjunction with the AISD school schedule.
7. What type of meal plan do you offer?
We serve breakfast, lunch, and an afernoon snack. We offer nutritional foods that represent the cultural and ethnic diversity of the children in our center. We encourage you to view a sample Two-Week Meal Plan.
8. How do the teachers discipline the children?
We provide each child with guidance that helps the child acquire a positive self-concept. Discipline and behavior guidance used by each caregiver will be constructive, positive, and suited to the age of the child. We take a preventive approach to discipline by modeling appropriate behavior, reminding the child of behavior expectations, and using praise and encouragement of good behavior (catch 'em being good!).
9. Do I have to schedule an appointment to visit the Center?
Although parents of enrolled children are welcome to visit the center at any time, prospective parents should call first to schedule an appointment. This way you can be sure that someone will be available to talk with you and show you around the Center. For the safety of our children, all guests must be identified and accompanied around the Center by a member of our staff.
10. What are your hours of operation? What is your part-time schedule?
We are open from 7 AM to 6 PM, Monday through Friday, and your child is considered full-time if they attend any number of hours for five days a week. Part-time schedules are available any number of hours for three days a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday or two days a week on Tuesday and Thursday only. Half-day schedules are no longer available.
Kidz Stop closings are in accordance with the AISD school closing schedule. You may view our current Closing Schedule.
